We (somewhat ambitiously) booked in advanced, a relatively large 70-seater coach for the EYAL Plate final this year - and I was delighted to see it almost full to capacity as we set off from Westminster Lodge at 8:30 in the morning on the 2 hour drive up the A12 to Ipswich.
I am pleased to report we managed to come 3rd on the day, beating both Shaftsbury Barnet and Dacorum & Tring – overall scores below:-
PROVISIONAL TEAM RESULTS: (subject to minor change):
1st. Chelmsford 612.5
2nd. Ipswich 583.5
3rd. St Albans 482
4th. Cambridge & Colderidge474
5th. Dacroum & Tring 459.5
6th. Shaftsbury Barnet 394.5
In addition to our 3rd overall place on the day we also won an individual title on the day for the U17 Women and we were an agonising 1 point shy of taking the U13 girls team title on the day.
Tim Higman and I both want to say a big THANK YOU to each and every athlete who took part this season, as it is your efforts that got us into the Final – and we witnessed a great team spirit across the entire team in yesterday’s final – I really enjoyed the whole experience on the day. We also had many young athletes stepping up to compete in events that were outside of their comfort zone in an extraordinary effort to help bring in those important extra points; this paid dividends, and we left with heads held high.
Results for the met are on the Results section of the club website.
