In any future adverse weather conditions please check the website if you are in any doubt on a nightly basis.

Please see Results for the results of the round 5 at Wing. The race report can be found in Match Reports. As with all the cross country events there are photos taken by the club and/or professional photographers. Details can be found in Photos.

We have been out on the course this afternoon preparing the parts that we are able to before tomorrow.
There is a thin covering of snow on most of the course which has had the effect of slightly softening the ground, so will now take a spike (not too long though). There are two gateways where extra care should be taken but we will guide the runners through these as safely as we can by narrowing the entrance and exits as appropriate.
We are due a very hard frost tonight, but are hopeful that the snow covering will protect the ground a little. It will not be icy but probably a bit "crunchy" first thing tomorrow.
Whilst runners should take care, I see no reason not to have the meeting tomorrow unless there is a great deterioration overnight.
Should this happen I will inform Dennis by 9am otherwise no news is good news and it will be on.
Individual runners must make their own assessment of the conditions as human nature decrees that some will be more confident than others. the moment the fixture is going ahead.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

16/01/2012

A big thank you to all the athletes, parents, friends, coaches, officials and members who attended the presentation evening last Friday at Verulam School.  A record number of medals, certificates and trophies were handed out to athletes - congratulations to you all for your endeavours on the track and field and in cross country. A presentation was also made to Terry Davies and his wife Lynne.  Terry had been the Club's Treasurer for more than 12 years and he stood down at the AGM last year.  A brief resume of his work as Treasurer over the years was delivered and a vote of thanks given.

As well as thanks to all the Club's coaches, officials and volunteers, mention was given to Colin Hull who has taken on the reins of Treasurer, Ian Markwell our new minutes secretary and Kathy McMurray our membership secretary.  Special thanks to Martin Evans for all his hard work in putting together the slide show and photos for the presentation - which makes life so much easier for the presenters!

Congratulations were also given to Sue Smith who has been selected to officiate at the Olympics and Paralympics - not only a great honour for her but for the club also - and to Debbie Steer who was selected in her capacity as a middle distance coach, to train at high altitude with the National Coaching Squad in France earlier this year.

With all the thanks being given out, I forgot to thank Andrew Ellis - our website manager - who took over this role at the AGM and has even managed to bring me into the 21st century with the advances in technology which are of great benefit to the communication within the Club itself.  So let me put that right here and now......Thank You Andrew for all your hard work!!

I hope you all enjoyed the evening and look forward to seeing you all again very soon.

Lynne Milner
Chairman
